"We recently completed undergroud vaults at the Field Museum with
Howard Concrete. We were given the go ahead by the museum with
an unrealistic completion date. After meeting with Howard and
putting together a tight schedule (roughly half the required time),
we proceeded with the project. Howard Conrete came through per
this tight schedule despite the extreme heat and crowded conditions.
We were able to turn this space over to the Museum on time.
Howard Concretes performace and workmanship is outstanding in
their field, they keep close attention to details as well as cost
and schedules.
Howard Concrete has also provided other work for us at the Field
Museum such as, an Emergency Generator Vault, Loading Dock, Mezzanines,
small foundations, floor patching and floor leveling. Besides
the Field Museum, Howard Concrete has worked on many other projects
in our office and continues to be a valued contractor for Crown
Construction Enterprises, Inc.
We enjoy our relationship with Howard Concrete and will continue
to keep a strong working relationship in the future."

In its seventy-five years of service, Howard Concrete has taken
on a wide variety of challenging jobs.
From the renovation of Chicago's historic Buckingham fountain
to the carefully placed concrete sections of the Western hotel,
Howard Concrete has delivered excellent quality. These projects
requite great coordination and flexibility, and Howard's reputation
for superior results. The links below contain in-depth information
on several of Howard's most interesting projects.
Buckingham Fountain
A Chicago lakefront landmark, Buckingham Fountain was donated
to the city by Miss Kate Sturges Buckingham in 1927 in memory
of her brother Clarence. For decades, it has attracted visitors
with a dazzling light and water show. In 1987, the fountain's
structure showed signs of serious wear, and Howard was brought
in to help. For more details about the project and photos of the
work, click here.
The Chicago Field Museum
Chicago's world-renowned Field Museum needed a new underground
entrance to its basement. The project called for the construction
of an underground vault, with concrete steps leading down to the
basement.
Because a major event was planned for that section of the museum,
the job's timeframe was much shorter than normal. Howard Concrete
had only three weeks to complete the job, rather than the usual
six weeks. Other complications arose during the project, including
unexpected deterioration in the pre-existing foundation.
Howard Concrete completed the job on time, despite the unexpected
problems, and the planned event was a hit.
Oakbrook Shopping Center
Howard Concrete has worked on a number of projects at the Oakbrook
Shopping Center, home of large retail stores including Nordstrom.
